Everyone Active Inspirational Case Study: Jack Newton June 2012
Jack, aged 15, from Grimsby made a decision back in July 2011 to change his lifestyle and get fit and healthy! Jack joined Everyone Active @ Grimsby Leisure Centre in August 2011 and began swimming daily firstly starting out doing 50 lengths in an hour building up to 140 lengths in an hour.
In April 2011 Jack weighed in at almost 20 stone and it was beginning to affect his health and after growing fears from family it was time to make a change. At his heaviest Jack had a waist measurement of 52".
After embarking on an exercise and an eating plan of three meals a day and no snacking Jack now weighs in at 11st 6 and a waist measurement of 36-38 inches which is a phenomenal achievement! At first Jack needed a little encouragement from mum Fran, who has done all the hard work with him including the swimming, and she is very proud of how well her son has done.
Jack loves to jump on the trampoline and at first could only manage a couple of jumps but now he can happily jump around for an hour! Asking what he plans to do on his summer break from school Jack said visit Pleasure Island Theme park in Cleethorpes as he loves it there! As Grimsby Leisure Centres very own “celebrity” Jack brings a ray of sunshine when he is in the pool swimming and chatting to the swimming teachers. In particular Lisa who he loves to splash!
Jack is well known by all colleagues and we are all very proud of him and wish him continued success with his weight loss and lifestyle change, a true Everyone Active role model and honorary member of the Everyone Active family!
