The Paradise Pool in Ely is set to get improved changing rooms, a refurbished break out area and other enhancements as part of a £50,000 makeover.
The investment is being made by East Cambridgeshire District Council and Everyone Active, will have now taken charge of the Paradise Pool.
The work began on Monday 23 July and will see a number of changes to taking place over the next two weeks to improve the experience for anyone who is coming to use the pool.
The pool will remain open throughout the refurbishment and any disruption will be kept to a minimum.
Everyone Active will also be introducing a range of activities from an award winning swimming lesson programme to results cards to use for fitness swimming to help people achieve 30 minutes of activity five times a week and encourage everyone to have fun swimming.
Cllr Richard Hobbs, Chairman of Community and Environment Committee, said: “It is great to see Everyone Active hitting the ground running with so many great ideas and plans. We have both made a real investment into the Paradise Pool and I hope residents see a real difference when the work is completed. The pool will remain open while the refurbishment takes place as we know how important swimming is to people especially with the inspiration of the Olympics just round the corner. So please bear with us over the next couple of weeks as we work to create a swimming experience of the highest standards.”
Dan Hicks, SLM’s contract manager for Cambridgeshire commented, “We are delighted to be starting our Everyone Active partnership with East Cambridgeshire District Council. Both the modernisation plans and new programming will be launched on 23rd July. We will be listening to the local community and developing our offer to them over the coming months. This is an exciting time for us all.”
