SLM Ltd, one of the UK’s leading sports and leisure centre management companies, has been announced as the new leisure partner to Watford Borough Council.
The contract will see SLM Ltd taking over the management of two brand new leisure centres, Watford Central and Watford Woodside which also includes Woodside Athletics Stadium on behalf of the Council. Each centre will incorporate the new Everyone Active brand, which has been recently introduced by SLM Ltd into the other 56 leisure centres it operates nationwide.
The two new state of the art leisure centres have been designed and constructed on behalf of Watford Borough Council at a cost of £23 million so it was imperative that the right partner was chosen to operate these flagship centres. Commenting on the awarding of the contract, Alison Stainsby, Head of Leisure and Community Services at Watford Borough Council said, “SLM Ltd demonstrated their ability to take on our new facilities and put in place a comprehensive operational strategy that will see our centres grow in stature over the 10 years of the partnership. We are looking forward to starting our work with them in late Spring.”
The contract, which will run for 10 years, will commence in May of this year and Duncan Jefford, SLM Ltd Regional Director for the South East is delighted by the opportunity to work in partnership with the Council. “The centres will transform leisure provision for the community of Watford and the surrounding area and Everyone Active will deliver the best leisure experience for all its customers now and in the future.”
