Lammas Leisure Centre has just undergone two days of intensive scrutiny by Quest, an independent quality scheme run by Sport England that ensures that leisure centres meet a number of standards including health and safety, child protection, lifeguarding and cleanliness of pool water. Similar to Ofsted for schools, Quest rates leisure centres and health clubs according to their overall performance.
The scheme, which is backed by former Olympic medal winner, Gail Emms, is a way of reassuring the public about the safety and quality standards in the leisure centre of their choice. In an assessment undertaken at the beginning of August Lammas Leisure Centre was awarded an Excellent status, putting it in the top 5% of centres in the UK.
"This is a phenomenal achievement for the centre," comments Richard Chatwin, general manager at Lammas Leisure Centre which is run by Everyone Active in partnership with Ashfield District Council. "To achieve an excellent rating demonstrates the hard work that we put in to ensuring that our standards are exceptionally high and that we have the safety of our members at the heart of everything we do."
