Members of the current Westminster Lodge Leisure Centre will shortly be contacted about membership options for the new leisure centre due to open in November 2012.
Sports Leisure Management (SLM), was appointed as the operating contractor for the new leisure centre following a decision by St Albans City & District Council’s Cabinet on 21 June. The company operates under the Everyone Active brand. The final contractual terms have now been agreed. The official Alcatel period – the legal standstill period in such contract arrangements – concluded on 16 July.
A wide range of operational matters including transfer of membership arrangements and bookings for clubs and schools are being discussed.
Transfer arrangements are being agreed between the Council, SLM and Leisure Connection (Harpers), the company managing the current Westminster Lodge Leisure Centre.
The Council is keen that members and clubs receive information as soon as possible about membership transfer options and club arrangements. We expect such arrangements to be in place by the end of August. Communications about club arrangements and the options available to members will then be sent out.
In the meantime, information about new memberships is available at SLM’s pre-sales venues in Market Place (former Past Times shop) and the visitor centre at Westminster Lodge. Customers can also contact SLM direct on 08450 306030, email: firstname.lastname@example.org or visit http://www.everyoneactive.com/westminsterlodge
Cllr Mike Wakely, Portfolio Holder for Sports, Leisure and Heritage at the Council commented: “Now that the operations contract for the new Westminster Lodge Leisure Centre has been finalised we want to ensure that there are smooth transition arrangements in place. Discussions on this are under way and arrangements will be confirmed later in August to give clarity to all leisure centre members and clubs.”
