Swim the Channel for Charity With Everyone Active
If you are looking for a new challenge and want to raise money for a fantastic national charity then why not pledge to swim the English Channel in 12 weeks.
Starting on 10th September Everyone Active is supporting the Aspire Channel Swim where participants have 12 weeks to swim 22 miles either individually or as a team at their local leisure centre swimming pool.
Across the UK all of the Everyone Active swimming pools are taking part – to find your nearest centre visit http://www.everyoneactive.com - and helping Aspire to raise money to support people with spinal injuries. Last year this challenge raised £350,000 but this year Everyone Active is hoping to help the charity reach the target of £500,000.
If you want to know how big a challenge this is then here are some figures:
- if your local pool is 25m long it equates to 1416 lengths (118 lengths a week)
- if your local pool is 33m long it equates to 1073 lengths (90 lengths a week)
- if your local pool is 50m long it equates to 708 lengths (59 lengths a week)
The beauty of the Aspire Channel Swim is that you don’t have to complete the challenge alone. You can do it as a family, as a club, as a class or as a team of work colleagues or friends. By joining together you can increase your fundraising opportunities and help those people who are less fortunate than you to live a normal life.
If you want to find out more about the Aspire Channel Swim and register to take part visit http://www.aspirechannelswim.co.uk. You can also find them on Facebook and follow the challenge on twitter @aspchannelswim.
Ask at your local Everyone Active centre for a flyer about the event and register now so that you too can help raise money for Aspire.
