Local swimming teacher, Samantha Griffiths from Bristol, is celebrating after scooping the top award for Top Teacher of the Year at the annual ASA Swimtastic Awards.
Presented to a Swimming Teacher who goes that extra mile to ensure they deliver the best possible learning experience for their pupils, this award recognised the significant achievement of Samantha in her swimming lessons that are delivered at Horfield Leisure Centre.
Samantha established a GP referral scheme for swimming that now runs alongside an existing gym referral scheme for people who would benefit from physical activity on their road to recovery.
The judging panel noted, “Samantha has shown incredible dedication to helping people on an individual basis to use swimming as a way back to health. She has created and delivered a service that wasn’t available before and is now in great demand and all this on top of her duties as a swimming teacher.”
SLM were also successful at the awards ceremony, picking up a Gold Award for Facility Operator of the Year for the second year running.
