Swimming Pools

At Bristol South Swimming Pool we offer a fantastic 30.5 metre, 5-lane.  Whether it’s our ASA accredited ‘Swim School’ offering swimming lessons from 4 months to 60+, Aqua Aerobics or Swim Fitness our poolside programme offers something for everyone.

 

Changing Facilities

There are separate male and female changing cubicles located on either side of the pool. We have a number of lockers, located at the shallow end of the main pool hall and locker keys are available at reception.  Please note a refundable £1 deposit is required to access all lockers.

 

Cycle Parking Stand

Cycle stands are available for visitors using our facilities and are located at the buildings entrance.  Please ensure you secure your cycles appropriately.

 

Meeting Room

Our meeting room is ideal for small community meetings and has a comfortable capacity of 16.  Please ask at reception for further details.

History of Bristol South

 
Bristol South is a Grade 2 listed swimming pool built in 1931. It is a popular community swimming pool serving the Bedminster / Southville area of the City.

The pool is steeped in history and used to provide slipper baths for men who had no bath facilities in their homes. These baths remained in use until the 1960’s and were a major feature of the pool until their closure.

Today, the pool is popular with all swimmers and the “Friends Of Bristol South” – that the friends work with the pool management to promote the pool to the local community”
