Spelthorne Leisure Centre has been commissioned by NHS Surrey and Surrey County Council to deliver 1200 NHS Health Checks to the people of Surrey and the surrounding area. Specialist health division, Everyone Health, will be delivering the NHS Health Checks at the leisure centre and community venues to support local GP’s.
The NHS Health Check programme aims to help prevent:
- Heart disease
- Stroke
- Diabetes
- Kidney disease
- and certain types of Dementia
It is available for anyone aged 40 – 74 who has not had a health check in the past five years and who does not suffer with one of these pre-existing health conditions or have certain risk factors. It is completely free and takes only about 20 minutes.
The health check covers:
- Blood Pressue
- BMI
- Activity levels
- A Cholesterol test and lifestyle questionnaire
