Our new Nutrition Ambassador and Chef: Jonny Marsh

We’re delighted to have teamed up with chef Jonny Marsh to create quick, easy-to-follow recipes that are perfect for the whole family.

Jonny’s worked at some of the best restaurants in the country and cooks for top Premier League footballers, including Manchester United’s Luke Shaw and Manchester City’s İlkay Gündoğan. Therefore, he understands the need for a healthy diet alongside an active lifestyle.

He’s previously supported Everyone Active’s Sporting Champions scheme, creating recipes that our athletes can use to benefit and support their training regimes.

What recipes will Jonny be creating for Everyone Active?

Over the next two months Jonny will be creating bespoke dishes chosen by you.

We’ll be asking for your favourite dishes and any advice you need from our expert chef. We’ll be sharing all the latest updates on Facebook and Instagram, and all the recipes will be available here on our website.

You can also follow Jonny on Instagram to catch all his very latest recipes.

But first, here are a few questions we put to Jonny to kick off our partnership.

How did you get in to becoming a chef?

“I got into cooking at 18 months old when I started baking with my mum, and it grew from there. I was making evening meals at around eight years old and managed to get a job at 15 working for free at Raymond Blanc’s brasserie in Manchester. I then moved to his two Michelin-starred restaurant, Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons, to do an apprenticeship at 18.”

Why is it important to eat healthily and also enjoy the cooking experience?

“Eating healthily is enormously important and I believe massively in following a healthy lifestyle rather than fad diets, macro counting or carb counting methods.

“I believe with good cooking techniques and a little extra thought, you can produce super-healthy food that doesn’t require any real effort or time but brings so much flavour and can feed the whole family.”

How did you enjoy working with our Sporting Champions in 2019?

“I loved chatting to the young athletes and the whole day with Sporting Champions.

“Over the day, I was able to help them and give advice on their diets and nutrition. As they all participate in different activities, it was simple advice on what they should and shouldn’t be eating. Personally, it was enormously inspiring and a great insight into these ambitious athletes wanting to get the best out of their bodies.”
