Of course, your footwork is an absolutely vital part of any successful climb. In this video, we look at incorporating what we learnt in this video into a sequence of climbing moves. The key to all climbing footwork is to place your foot on the hold in such a way that you can pivot on your toe, which allows you to put your body in the most efficient position possible. While speed is useful and important, it’s vital you take your time to start with, to ensure precision. Meanwhile, while ‘smearing’ (i.e. using the face of the wall or a volume to climb with your feet) it’s of paramount importance to keep your heels dropped to make sure you keep maximum contact with the wall.
