Meet The Team

Sharon Hunter

Corporate Training Manager

Sharon HunterSharon came across to Everyone Active from SLL and IA from the tender take over in April 2023. Sharon has been running the Ascent Training Centre now called Stevenage Training Centre within the Everyone Training Academy since 2005.

Sharon’s duties include, business planning, booking candidates on to courses, marketing the training centre and dealing with all the finance side and reporting everything regarding the training centre up to Management.

Sharon is also a National Trainer Assessor and Internal & External Quality Assurance within courses operated by us from RLSS, including 1 of the 4 tutors for the NPMQ Course and co-wrote the SSHSA qualification. Sharon works on several steering groups with the RLSS from NTA, Ops Team to working on the newly launched Gen 10 NPLQ.

Sharon is also a Trainer Assessor for courses from RoSPA, IOSH and Active IQ.

Sharon has a License to Operate Membership with RLSS & Technical Member of the IOSH.

Martin Baker

Health and Safety Training Manager

Martin BakerMartin has worked in the Leisure Industry for over 25 years with experience in both local authority and the private sector. He progressed from Lifeguard to General Manager while based at centres before undertaking his training role at Everyone Active in 2008.

Over the past 15 years Martin has delivered a range of safety courses including Lifeguarding, First Aid, Health and Safety, Pool Plant and Food Hygiene.

Martin is our centre co-ordinator with the Royal Lifesaving Society making him responsible for the quality and administration of all of Everyone Active’s First Aid and Lifeguard courses.

Martin works closely with the RLSS and has sat on numerous working groups over the years and has helped develop the 8th edition, 9th, and the newly launched 10th Generation Lifeguard qualifications. Martin was also on the development group for the PXB Board and the on-going Lifeguard Training.

Martin has also worked with CIMSPA being a member of the working groups to set the standards of the Pool Plant Operator and Duty Manager apprenticeship qualification.

Martin is qualified and registered to teach the following courses:

  • RLSS NPLQ, NRASTC, First Aid (FAW, EFAW, PFA and EPFA)
  • RLSS NTA for NPLQ, NRASTC and First Aid
  • IOSH Managing and Working Safely
  • Institute of Swimming/RLSS Foundation and Pool Plant Qualifications.

Martin has the following Professional Memberships

  • Member of the Chartered Institute of Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA)

Stephanie Heath

Fitness Product Development Manager

Steph Heath

Stephanie has been working in the fitness industry for the past 18 years. Stephanie’s background is sports coaching and performance training for athletes including football, athletics, and dance.  Stephanie has taught group exercise and PT across America, Egypt, and the UK.

Stephanie has been delivering fitness training courses since 2010 and loves to develop other fitness professionals within the industry.  Stephanie currently delivers Aqua, EA Adolescents Induction, EA Cycle, Group Cycling, Functional Training and Member Experience Workshops.

Michelle Laurie

Group Exercise Co-ordinator All South East Region

Michelle LaurieMichelle has been in the fitness industry since 1992 and, during her career,

Has presented internationally for several formats. Known for her inclusive,

fun approach to fitness, Michelle can educate and motivate both instructors,

and participants.

More recently Michelle is a co-host of the popular EA Podcasts whilst filming content for EOD and creating new formats EA Rejuvenate and EA Buggies & Bands.

Doug Herd

Health and Safety Trainer

Doug HerdDoug qualified as a lifeguard at 16 & worked at several different sites while completing 6th form and University. Doug joined Everyone Active in 2014 and became a Duty Manager & Site Safety Co-ordinator at Southam Leisure Centre soon after. From 2018 Doug spent 4 years as a Maintenance Engineer in Stratford Upon Avon Contract before joining the Health & Safety Training Team in 2022’

Currently Doug is qualified to:

  • Deliver RLSS NPLQ, ER Pool, NRASTC & ATSPRA
  • Mentor RLSS Probationary Trainer Assessors
  • Deliver IOSH Managing & Working Safely Courses
  • Deliver IOS/RLSS National Pool Plant Operator & Foundation

Rob Canfield

Sales Manager

Rob CanfieldRob has been working in the training centre at Stevenage for 8yrs now. He is a full time Sales Manager at Stevenage Swimming Centre. He does though train and assess some courses. Rob is a qualified RLSS National Trainer Assessor, Swim England Tutor and Active IQ Tutor, Assessor and IQA. Rob has also help develop a range of internal CPDs for Swimming Teachers.

Rob can tutor, assess and IQA:

  • RLSS NPLQ, NRASTC, First Aid (FAW, EFAW, PFA and EPFA), Rookie Instructor
  • RLSS NTA for NPLQ, NRASTC and First Aid
  • Active IQ L2 Gym Instructors, L2 in Instructing Adolescents, L3 in Supporting Clients with Long Term Health Conditions
  • Swim England / IOS – L1 Swimming Assistant (Teaching) and L2 Teaching Swimming

Rob is also affiliated to both the RLSS with a License to Operate and Swim England as a tutor.

Sam Gasston

Operations Manager

Sam GasstonSam is full time Operations Manager at Stevenage Swimming Centre but does assist with taking some courses. He is an RLSS License to Operate and can train and assess the following courses for RLSS:

  • First Aid (FAW, EFAW, PFA and EPFA),
  • Rookie Instructor

Luke Sale

Area Fitness Manager

Luke SaleLuke has a background of strength & conditioning in professional sports teams, followed by several years of running fitness teams. Luke has been involved in the fitness industry for over 10 years, as fitness management, Academy trainer, Head Coach, General Management, and Regional Management. Luke now looks after the North West fitness product for Everyone active.
