The exciting new extension and refurbishment of Hartham Leisure Centre
We’re delighted to announce that Hartham Leisure Centre will undergo an exciting £8m refurbishment project from April 2021. It will include both an extension to the building, providing a wide range of brand-new facilities, as well as significant improvement to existing ones.
The developments will go a long way to ensuring a wide range of state-of-the-art facilities for the entire community to enjoy. It will be carried out in a phased approach and is expected to be complete by autumn 2022. This project will include:
Phase 1 – completed and open
- In phase 1, the centre’s swimming pools will undergo vast improvements, including the re-tiling of the poolside area and the refurbishment of the changing facilities.
Phase 2 – scheduled to complete in autumn 2022
- Phase two will include an extension to the building, which will significantly increase the provision of activities at the centre. It will house a brand-new gym with over 200 pieces of high-tech equipment, two new group exercise studios offering a wide range of classes for every customer, changing facilities and a children’s soft play area and café. A new, bright and welcoming reception area will also be located here.
Rest assured, throughout phases one and two, the existing fitness facilities will remain open. We have installed over £100k worth of brand-new Technogym equipment in the current gym for customers to enjoy.
Phase 3 – scheduled to complete in winter 2022
- Phase three will include the provision of a brand-new, immersive group cycling studio guaranteed to get new and keen cyclist’s pulse racing and new and improved gym changing facilities.
Please be aware, whilst works are carried out, there will be a temporary entrance to the building in place. This will be clearly signposted upon your arrival to the centre.
Please keep checking this page and our Facebook page for further updates on the project.
We are very excited to be working with East Herts Council on this development. It will go a long way to getting more people active and securing the long-term provision of leisure facilities for the local community. Thank you for your patience whilst works are underway.
