Country’s best divers heading to Plymouth

The Plymouth Life Centre is set to welcome the country’s best divers for the British Diving National Cup from 1 – 3 February.

Everyone Active and Plymouth City Council are working closely with British Diving to deliver the best event for the divers as they take to the boards for an early season test.

The Plymouth Life Centre plays a regular part in the calendar for elite diving after hosting 11 major national events since 2012.

The country’s top divers including Olympic medallist Tom Daley and Jack Laugher will be competing for National honours on the 10m Platform and 3m Springboard respectively. They will also be debuting their new synchro partnerships at the event. Daley now dives with Matty Lee while Laugher will compete with Daniel Goodfellow.

Plymouth-born Matthew Dixon will be returning to action in his home pool after a 2018 season that saw him win silver at the Commonwealth Games and the European Championships.

Plymouth Diving’s Aiden Heslop and Victoria Vincent are expected to compete after they competed at European Junior Championships in July. Other local divers competing will be Shanice Lobb (10m), Kayleigh Sinclair (1m and 3m), Euan McCabe (10m) and Alfie Brown (10m).

We are all excited to be welcoming the country’s top divers to Plymouth once again. We’re proud that our centre has been selected to host the first event in the 2019 domestic diving calendar. “We have strong local talent that will be fighting for medals and we’re pleased Tom [Daley] will be making his domestic comeback in his hometown after taking a year off. It promises to be a fantastic weekend of competition and I would encourage everyone to come down to cheer on our local divers.
