Commonwealth silver medallist Matthew Dixon has been named Sporting Champion of the Year for the West region at a national awards ceremony.
Dixon, who has been part of Everyone Active’s Sporting Champions scheme since May, was given his award on the back of the series of international medals he won in 2018.
Everyone Active’s Sporting Champions, which has been running for three years, is providing even more talented athletes with access to excellent facilities and funds to support their training and help them achieve on the sporting stage.
The Plymouth-based diver won two silver medals at the Commonwealth Games followed by silver at the European Championships. He has now re-focused ahead of a vital 2019 season that sees divers vying for the first opportunity to qualify for the 2020 Olympic Games.
