37 charity swimmers at West Lindsey Leisure Centre – operated by Everyone Active in partnership with West Lindsey District Council – who took part in the World’s Charity Biggest Swim on 17th and 19th April have succeeded in raising over £2,000 for Marie Curie Cancer Care.
Each year across the UK around 23,000 people take part in the world’s biggest charity swim event, which over the past 28 years has raised over £40m for good causes. 37 local swimmers joined in this year’s event at West Lindsey Leisure Centre and swam 1.5k, 2.5k or 5k distances, individually or as part of team. Over £2,000 was raised.
“This was an incredible achievement for swimmers who took to the water at West Lindsey Leisure Centre,” says Zoe Cawte, Everyone Active’s Sales Manager at West Lindsey Leisure Centre. “There was a great atmosphere with plenty of supporters cheering the swimmers from the poolside. I would like to congratulate all the swimmers who trained so hard to complete their challenge. They should be very proud of their achievements and I’m delighted that the Gainsborough swimming community raised so much money for such an important charity.”
