Leisure centre is named as one of the county’s best

A leisure facility in Plymouth has been named as one of the county’s best following a national industry assessment.

Plymouth Life Centre, which is managed by Everyone Active on behalf of Plymouth City Council, has been awarded the status of ‘outstanding’ by Quest – Sport England’s leading national quality scheme.

Outstanding is the highest mark awarded through the scheme, and Plymouth Life Centre has now attained it during two consecutive Quest assessments.

Quest is the best-known improvement programme within the leisure industry and its rigorous assessments challenge even the very best leisure centres in the UK. The assessment looks at all aspects of a leisure centre’s performance, including customer services and the quality of its facilities. Members at Plymouth Life Centre were also asked to give their opinions and the site underwent a rigorous inspection before being given the final stamp of approval.

The final Quest report also noted the praise that was heaped on Plymouth Life Centre by British Diving, with the National Governing Body complimenting both the centre’s facilities and its ability to host high-quality aquatic events.

“We are delighted that Plymouth Life Centre has been classified as ‘outstanding’ once again. Our aim is to ensure the centre remans a hub for the local community and a place where everyone can find fun and enjoyable ways of getting active. This award recognises the fantastic facilities and services we provide, as well as the work we do alongside the Council to improve the health and wellbeing of Plymouth’s residents. I am immensely proud of the team for what we have achieved and the difference we are making to people’s lives on a daily basis.”

Julian Egan, Everyone Active’s Contract Manager

“It’s great news that the Plymouth Life Centre has been rated ‘outstanding’ by Quest. We’re pleased to see the assessment highlights Everyone Active’s work in promoting netball, its school swimming programme and its success in turning apprenticeships into long-term employment opportunities. Helping the community to keep physically active and providing training and skills for young people are key priorities for the city.”

Deputy Council Leader Peter Smith

“Quest Stretch is the highest accreditation that can be achieved and as such it is an extremely demanding process. By meeting Quest Stretch’s very high standards, Plymouth Life Centre has shown its commitment to providing quality facilities and service to its customers. In these tough economic times it is more important than ever that local leisure facilities can demonstrate their value, and Quest Stretch accreditation helps them do just that.”
