Everyone Active and East Hampshire District Council have invested £2.8million to significantly improve the facilities on offer at Taro Leisure Centre. The final works are now underway, with all areas of the upgraded centre due to reopen in December.
The fitness suite is currently undergoing a transformation that will offer members access to a greater range of fitness equipment. It is being extended to include 100 state-of-the-art fitness stations as well as a new free-weights and functional training area, which will be available to enjoy at the end of November.
• 4 new watt bikes
• New platform and Olympic racks
• A new Olympic flat bench
• 3 multi power/smith machines
• 14 new cable machines
On top of this, the final phase of the project will also unveil a modernised reception, refurbished fitness changing rooms and a new soft play area.
“I am really excited for the completed project to be unveiled. It has already made a big difference to customers who use the new studios and pool-side changing area, and this final stage will see even more people benefiting from the upgrades. Taro Leisure Centre is a hub of activity for the local community, and investments like this ensure it continues to meet the needs of customers. I want to thank all our members for their patience while the works have been ongoing, and look forward to welcoming them into the fully renovated centre soon.”
The development has been completed in stages, and has already seen new group cycling and health and wellbeing studios installed, as well a significant refurbishment of the pool-side changing area.
The community will be invited to celebrate the completion of the project at an event held in the New Year. Taro Leisure Centre will be opening its door for free and encouraging visitors to try out the new facilities alongside some well-known sporting faces.
