More than 60 people from Blaby joined colleagues at Everyone Active’s Enderby Leisure Centre for a WW2 themed murder mystery evening to help raise hundreds for a national charity.
The event, which was led by actors from Whestone Drama Group, raised more than £370 for Everyone Active’s chosen charity partner, mental wellbeing charity, Mind.
Everyone Active, which operates Enderby Leisure Centre in partnership with Blaby District Council, teamed up with Mind in June last year. The leisure operator has pledged to raise £100,000 for the charity before June 2019 and raise awareness of the services and support that the charity provide.
Enderby Leisure Centre has pledged to raise £1,000 towards this fundraising target. Colleagues have arranged a string of events to reach their fundraising goal, including, a FightKlub master class that they held in November last year, which raised over £200.
One in four people will experience a mental health problem in any given year. Physical activity is proven to benefit mental wellbeing in a number of ways, including easing feelings of stress and reducing the risk of depression. The partnership between Everyone Active and Mind will encourage more people to engage with physical activity and feel these benefits.
James Naylor, contract manager at Everyone Active said: “The team at Mind are passionate about raising awareness of mental health problems and we are proud to work with them as our chosen charity partner. We are over half way towards reaching our fundraising target, and we will be organising more events over the next twelve months to help us achieve our goal.”
