The extensively-refurbished Newbold Comyn Leisure Centre reopened its door to the public on Monday 21st August, and more than 650 people made a splash in the pool to commemorate the occasion.
To mark the official reopening of the centre, sports and leisure operator Everyone Active invited the local community to try out some of the first-class facilities free of charge.
Everyone Active invited the community to be amongst the first to try out the wide-range of exercise classes now available in the two brand new group exercise studios. One of the group exercise studios boasts the latest group cycling bikes, and offers more than 20 virtual and instructor led classes each week.
Local fitness fanatics have been testing out the extensive cardiovascular and strength training equipment available in the brand new 100-station fitness suite, which also benefits from an Omnia functional training rig that offers a number of group and individual training activities.
The extensive refurbishment works at Newbold Comyn Leisure Centre are being completed in two phases. The second phase is anticipated to open in spring 2018 and will deliver a climbing centre, café, sports hall, new reception area and changing facilities with direct access to the swimming pool and leisure pool.
Everyone Active manages Abbey Fields Swimming Pool, Castle Farm Recreation Centre, St Nicholas Park Leisure Centre, John Atkinson Sports Centre and Meadow Community Sports Centre in partnership with Warwick District Council.
Warwick District Council has invested millions of pounds into renovating the Council owned Newbold Comyn Leisure Centre and providing improved leisure facilities for local people. Earlier this year the Council appointed Everyone Active to manage and operate the District’s leisure centres.
Warwick District Council’s Portfolio Holder for Culture Councillor Michael Coker commented: “The Council is delighted that Phase One of Newbold Comyn is now open. Along with a simply superb gym and studios, we have completely refurbished the plant and equipment that operates the pools, so that we can be confident that the pools will last another 30 years without any more major investment”.
Toni Gaskins, area contract manager for Everyone Active, says: “We are delighted that more than 650 local people came out to enjoy the swim sessions to see first-hand the state-of-the-art facilities that are now available at Newbold Comyn Leisure Centre.
“Work is well underway on phase-two development works at the centre, and we are looking forward to working in partnership with Warwick District Council to offer even more opportunities for the community to get active and improve their health and wellbeing.”
