To mark the festive period, colleagues and members at a local leisure centre have donated a selection of Christmas presents to Eva Women’s Aid.
Everyone Active which operates five leisure centres across the district in partnership with Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council, provided 97 gifts for women and children who use the charities services to brighten their Christmas.
The leisure operator held a competition to win a year’s membership at its Redcar & Cleveland Leisure and Community Heart centre. Everyone who donated a gift was entered into the competition and the annual membership was presented to Margaret Akel.
Eva Women’s Aid which has been established for 30 years, provides support and assistance to women and children that have been affected by domestic abuse and/or sexual violence at any point in their lives. Its services include, children’s and adult female counselling, supported housing and a rape crisis centre.
The gifts that were donated by colleagues and members were presented to Eva by Susan Daynes, Everyone Active’s membership consultant at Redcar & Cleveland Leisure and Community Heart centre.
Susan Daynes, Everyone Active’s membership consultant at Redcar & Cleveland Leisure and Community Heart centre, said: “We are passionate about supporting the local community and we commend the great work that the team at Eva carry out. We teamed up with the charity to ensure that the women and children at Eva will be able to enjoy a small gift from us this Christmas. We hope they all have a wonderful time celebrating.”
Anthea Camfield, supported housing manager at Eva Women’s Aid said: “We are absolutely thrilled to have received the Christmas presents from Everyone Active. Our service users will really appreciate it and it’s fantastic that they’ll each be able to have a little something for themselves”.
