Accessibility

At Everyone Active every customer is important to us and we want to help make your visit to our website and centres as easy and accessible as possible. We believe in inclusivity, which is why our services are aimed at Everyone, hence our name.

This statement covers the following websites:

These websites represent different trading names and areas of our organisation. They are owned and managed by SLM Ltd.

Our commitment to our users

Our website aims to meet or exceed the AA standard and the prevailing WCAG guidelines. We aim to always follow the 4 principles of the standard:

  • Perceivable – Information and user interface components must be presentable to users in ways they can perceive.
  • Operable – User interface components and navigation must be operable.
  • Understandable – Information and the operation of user interface must be understandable.
  • Robust – Content must be robust enough that it can be interpreted reliably by a wide variety of user agents, including assistive technologies.

At Everyone Active we are committed to making our website as accessible as possible whilst providing the richness of functionality that our customers expect. We aim to make our website text as simple as possible to understand by using everyday language.

We will avoid using jargon and complex legal terms wherever possible. We acknowledge accessibility standards are evolving so they can meet new requirements and advances in technology. This may mean we will not always hit the mark, but we will continue to strive to do so. This is our commitment to all our customers, clients and colleagues.

Our aim is for as many people as possible to be able to use our website. This means for example you should be able to:

  • change colours, contrast levels and fonts
  • zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen
  • navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
  • listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)
  • Use ReciteMe to navigate and interpret all of the websites content

How accessible is our website?

Our websites are designed to meet the AA standard within the latest WCAG Guidelines and to meet ISO 30071: 2019.

Some areas of our websites are not fully accessible.

  • We use iFrames meaning some applications run directly within our website – these are not always accessible and may not operate fully with accessible tools
  • some images and banners have poor colour contrast
  • some buttons are not correctly identified meaning they are not recognisable by accessibility tools
  • navigation through the website is not always clearly labelled and can not be identified by accessibility aids
  • We sometimes use third party tools and systems which do not always follow the standard.

What we are doing to make improvements:

  • We are continually reviewing the website and making changes where we ae able to do so, including the areas we have already identified
  • We are listening to our customers, clients and colleagues so we can identify any areas or functionality that are causing difficulties
  • We have employed a National Inclusion and Wellbeing manager who will continually advise internal teams on how we can make things even better.
  • We do review the latest standards so that accessibility needs are taken into consideration
  • We do use external tools to scan our website and tell us where we do not meet the latest AA standards
  • We do test changes against different browsers and smart phone apps to ensure that changes we introduce are as accessible as we can make them.
  • Work with our third party suppliers so their applications and websites are as accessible as possible

Your feedback is important to us

We are committed to providing a website that is as accessible as possible for our customers.  If you have any feedback or questions about our website we’d love to hear from you. If you experience any problems or difficulties with any of our websites, apps or digital tools, or would like to make any suggestions, please get in touch via our contacts page or alternatively talk to one of our colleagues the next time you visit one of our centres, if that is easier.
