Blackbrook Active Wellbeing Suite

Helping you feel stronger, happier and healthier

Blackbrook Active Wellbeing Suite is ideal for those looking to improve their fitness, flexibility, mobility, and muscle strength in a controlled and social environment.

What is it?

A friendly and welcoming facility, Blackbrook Active Wellbeing Suite is an inviting place for people to exercise, make friends and enjoy a sense of community.

The 12 pieces of power-assisted equipment (including nine chairs and three beds) enable you to exercise and tone without relying solely on your own muscle strength. Your body is fully-supported throughout, meaning less pressure is placed on your joints during activity.

Each machine targets a different muscle group, and a full circuit will provide you with an whole body workout. Each circuit will take around 40 minutes to complete.

We recommend booking an induction with a member of staff on your first visit, who will make sure you are using the equipment safely and correctly.

What is power-assisted exercise?

Power-assisted exercise enables you to work with the resistance provided by the machine in a controlled and safe manner. Each machine moves in a set pattern, and you can work as hard or as little as you need to, depending on your ability.

Unlike a conventional gym, the equipment does not rely exclusively on your own muscle power. The pre-programmed speeds offer a range of resistance levels to help you reach your own personal and fitness goals.

The health benefits of power-assisted exercise have long been recognised and used by the medical and rehabilitation professions. The equipment has been designed so that it can be used by anyone, regardless of mobility or fitness level.

Who is it for?

Blackbrook Active Wellbeing Suite is the perfect choice for anyone returning to exercise after a period of rest or inactivity, including those recovering from illness or injury. This includes people with high blood pressure, back or joint complaints, as well as hip or knee replacements.

It’s also suitable for those suffering from a long-term illness, such as MS, ME, muscular dystrophy, Parkinson’s, cerebral palsy, fibromyalgia, or arthritis.

As with all forms of exercise, we recommend you get consent from your doctor first.
