Health & Wellbeing Day – March 2024

On 15th March 2024 Winchester Sport and Leisure Park hosted a Health and Wellbeing Day for those aged 50+. Offering a variety of activities to trial as well as a variety of stall holders and pop-up café!

Activities ranged from Walking Netball, Yoga, Stady & Strong, Assisted Circuits as well as a class from Move Momentum!

All our partners in the event were there to support and provide information on a wide variety of subjects, all with the same goal of supporting the local community.

Winchester Beacon

The Winchester Beacon is open 365 days a year and provides accommodation, food and vital support services to help break the cycle of homelessness and enable residence to rebuild their lives.

Icarus – mental health support for veterans

Icarus was founded by two veteran therapists who recognised that, to be able to provide reassurance and effective support, having an understanding of military service is extremely important. Icarus support services are free of charge and available for all veterans, from all branches of the military, regardless of rank, unit, service record or age. They are also available to support partners and families.

Winchester Health Clinic

Winchester Health Clinic are a part of the University of Winchester and offer a community facing Physiotherapy Clinic. Undergraduate students on the BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy degree program work alongside the Health and Care Professions Council-accredited (HCPC) clinic manager during placements as part of their studies. Services they are currently offering include Physiotherapy, Aquatic Physiotherapy & Sports Massage.

Citizens Advice Winchester District

Anyone can encounter challenges in their lives, and sometimes you need the right advice and support to help you through. Citizens Advice Winchester District is here everyone who lives or works in Winchester District and can support you with issues around employment, housing, welfare support, debt, family disputes, human rights and more.

Winchester Meditation Services

Founded in 2002, Winchester Meditation Services have several volunteer Mediators trained to exacting national standards. Their volunteers provide an invaluable service across the Winchester District and act as an objective friend to find the best resolution for everyone. Our Mediators are qualified to take on a huge range of issues to protect you.

MHA Communities Winchester

MHA Communities Winchester was established in 2000 and supports over 300 older people across the Winchester District. With the primary aim to enable older people to live later life well which is achieved through the provision of one-to-one services and group activities. MHA Communities across the UK help to tackle loneliness and isolation in people over 60 – helping them to lead fulfilled lives and remain as active members in their local communities. All scheme members benefit from a regular newsletter, birthday card, Christmas gift bag, regular telephone contact, free will writing service, access to our lending library, transport to one off appointments (subject to availability), opportunity to partake in outings and holiday as well as signposting & information.

Winchester University of the Third Age

Winchester University of the Third Age currently has about 1300 members and aims to provide a friendly environment in which members can work together to share learning and leisure activities and add value to their quality of life.

U3A membership is not related to a specific age in years but to that period in life after full-time employment and parental responsibility (the third age), when people are free to come together to develop interests for which they may not previously have had the time. There is no lower age for membership, and anybody in their third age can join U3A, including people who are working part time.

Community First – Volunteer First

Through connecting and engaging with the community and its needs Community First are able to provide essential support services including: Transport and Mobility Services; Wheels to Work; Community and Sports Facilities; Volunteering; Positive Pathways; Home & Gardening Services; Young Carers support and Training and Counselling.
