We have teamed up with the sport’s governing body, Badminton England, to offer you an excellent variety of bookable badminton activities at our centres. Our centres boast a range of different badminton activities that are great fun for everyone, regardless of age, experience or fitness level.
Read on to find out more.
1. Play Casually
Casual Badminton is one of our most popular activities. You can either book in advance or just turn up and enjoy a game with a partner or a group of friends. It’s tons of fun, a really good whole-body workout and you don’t need any special equipment. Just turn up with a pair of trainers and we can provide the rest (although feel free to bring along your own racquet and shuttle cocks if you prefer).
2. No Strings Badminton
This session is perfect for adults (16+) who want to play badminton socially. Our friendly session co-ordinators will engage with you. They will ensure you are supported to be active and having fun throughout your time on the court. The best part is you don’t need a partner, racket or shuttle to join in; you can just turn up and play.
3. Shuttle Stars
Shuttle Stars is Badminton England’s exciting new junior participation program, specifically designed for 7-11 year-olds. It offers a fun and inclusive environment for children to discover the sport, develop essential skills, improve fitness, and make new friends.
The program is structured into six progressive stages over a minimum of two years:
- Stages 1-2: Focus on fundamental movement skills, footwork, hand-eye coordination, and basic racket grips.
- Stages 3-4: Help players develop core badminton skills with increased speed and agility.
- Stages 5-6: Introduce game play and tactics, preparing children for friendly competition.
Upon signing up, participants receive a pack including a racket, t-shirt, and shuttlecocks. Shuttle Stars also incorporates exciting festivals and provides a structured pathway for young players keen to progress further in badminton.
For more details on the Shuttle Stars program, you can visit the Badminton England website.
4. Essentials Badminton
A six to eight week course led by a level two-qualified badminton coach. Ideal for beginners or those who want to improve their game, this course will teach you the basic rules and techniques. It will also equip you with the skills to play badminton at any level.
All our leisure centres that have a sports hall are likely to offer badminton, as halls are pre-marked with courts laid out. To hire a court, you can either book via the mobile app, online, or in centre.
