New leisure centre now open to local community

On Saturday 1st July, the brand new Rainham Leisure Centre officially opened its doors, hosting a successful open weekend, which saw over 2,000 people from the local community join in with the celebrations.

Managed by Everyone Active in partnership with Havering Council, the brand new leisure centre opened ahead of schedule, with its ‘dry side’ facilities now available to use and plans for its ‘wet facilities’ to open later this summer.

The centre celebrated in style by hosting a weekend of free and fun-filled activities for the whole community to enjoy.

From free group exercise and gym sessions to cricket on the new recreation ground, and access to the new children’s outside play area – there was something for everyone.

Tom Fletcher, area contract manager at Everyone Active, said: “We’re absolutely thrilled at how many people from the local community took the time to come down to the family fun days last weekend, to visit the brand new centre and enjoy some sporting fun.

“We hope the open weekend encourages individuals to come back to the centre and share their experience with others, so we can continue to drive health and wellbeing within the local community.”
