The Plymouth Life Centre and Brickfields Sports Centre have been recognised for their excellent services following a tough assessment by Sport England’s leading national quality scheme, Quest.
Quest is the best-known improvement programme within the leisure industry and its rigorous assessments challenge even the very best leisure centres in the UK. Both centres were assessed under the Quest Plus scheme.
The Plymouth Life Centre received an ‘excellent’ rating, whilst Brickfields Sports Centre was noted for ‘best practice’ for its work with Plymouth Community Healthcare to deliver health and wellbeing programmes and services, including exercise referral, for local communities.
In order to achieve the accolade, each centre went through a mystery visit and a two-day assessment.
David Greenwood, Everyone Active’s contract manager for Plymouth, said: “We are very proud of both centres for being recognised for their excellent services.
“This is a fantastic achievement and a real team effort. Quest is much more than a tick-box exercise; it is an ongoing programme to improve our facilities for both staff and customers, and a great way to demonstrate our achievements.”
Councillor Peter Smith, Deputy Leader of Plymouth City Council, said: “It’s great news that the Plymouth Life Centre and Brickfields have been recognised by Quest for excellence and best practice. This is testament to the collaborative working between the Council, Everyone Active and our partners and reflects the enormous dedication of staff working at the two centres.”
Quest’s operations director, Caroline Constantine, said: “Quest Plus is a step up from the entry level Quest and as such it is a more demanding process. By meeting Quest’s high standards for excellent centres, both The Plymouth Life Centre and Brickfields Sports Centre have shown their commitment to providing quality facilities and service to their customers. In these tough economic times it is more important than ever that local leisure facilities can demonstrate their value, and Quest helps them do just that.”
