Fitness & Well Being Reopening Measures

We understand the most recent Government announcement may have caused some confusion over whether leisure centres are affected by the new guidance. We’re pleased to say they are exempt, and we are continuing to impose strict measures for the safety of our customers and colleagues.

Rest assured, the latest guidance applies only to social gatherings and requires you to not meet with people from other households in groups of more than six. Full details can be on the Government Social Distancing Guidelines. If there are any changes to guidance that affects the opening or operation of our centres, we will of course let you know immediately. We’ve been working hard to ensure our centres remain a safe environment for all when they reopen.  Below are details for the measures we are taking specifically to certain facilities/activities within them.

Please be aware, not all of the below facilities may reopen at your local leisure centre in the first instance – this is dependent on the specific plans that have been agreed with your local authority.

Please ensure you read this information thoroughly before visiting the centre. All the measures detailed below are based on government guidance and our own risk assessments.

The reopening of our gyms and studios

We hope to reopen our gyms and studios as soon as possible. However, the dates for reopening may vary between centres, depending on our discussions with local authority partners. We will contact all centre members individually to notify them of the exact reopening date for their local centre.

In addition to our general reopening measures detailed above, please familiarise yourself with the below changes relating specifically to our gyms and studios.

The reopening of our gyms

  • The general measures will apply as well as the below measures.
  • There will be a one-way system in place (where possible) throughout the centres and in corridors leading to the gym
  • We will limit the number of people in the gym at any one time to allow for social distancing. *The maximum number will be subject to the size of your local gym
  • Where possible, we have tried to utilise other areas of our centres to place gym equipment (i.e. the sports hall or studios) to avoid members being congregated in one area. In these instances, signage will be placed as you enter the building to make you aware of where equipment can be found.
  • A booking system will be introduced to manage occupancy levels and to avoid overcrowding. All customers will be required to pre-book for a session via a booking system. Each session will be a maximum of 50 minutes long, with 10 minutes at the end to allow for cleaning
  • We ask that customers only book one gym session per day so everyone has the opportunity to utilise the facilities
  • Members will be able to book their gym session up-to 7-days in advance. Non-members will be able to book their session up-to 5-days in advance
  • Although some changing rooms will be open, customers are advised to attend in their gym kit and be prepared to shower and change at home
  • Customers should bring their own sweat towels to wipe themselves (not the machines). Cleaning of machines must be completed using the paper towels and cleaning products provided
  • Customers are asked to bring their own water bottles for refilling at water fountains
  • We will maximise ventilation in all areas of the gym (through air conditioning and opening windows) to ensure the circulation of fresh air
  • Customers are asked to clean equipment before and after each use. Cleaning stations will be located around the gym for both customers and colleagues to utilise.
  • Trained colleagues will clean equipment on a regular basis, including the disinfection of fitness suite and studios
  • Inductions will be operated online via the website and app
  • Junior Gym members (11-15 year olds) can attend with a parent or Guardian in attendance. We will not be inducting new Junior Gym members initially, due to a one-to-one induction with a colleague being required.
  • Personal Trainers will be operating and will be required to maintain social distancing

The reopening of our group exercise studio

The general measures detailed above will apply

  • The general measures will apply as well as the below measures.
  • Group Exercise Customers will need to book in advance via the Everyone Active app. Classes will run with a minimum of 15 minutes being allocated after each class, to allow time for cleaning of the studio and changeover of participants
  • Members will be able to book a class up-to 7-days in advance. Non-members will be able to book a class up-to 5-days in advance
  • Class capacity will be reduced to ensure social distancing. Floor markers will outline starting points for customers
  • Where sessions involve shared equipment, (e.g. circuit training) we will be adapting the class to remove the need for such equipment
  • Where possible, customers are asked to bring their own yoga mats and water bottles
  • Sessions involving personal equipment (e.g. yoga mat) will be cleaned pre and post class and people will be encouraged to bring their own equipment where possible

The reopening of our spa facilities

  • The general measures will apply as well as the below measures.
  • The  Spa’s are operating as per government ‘close contact services’ guidance’ and UK Spa Association guidanceWe ask our staff and clients not to come into the spa if they or a member of their household have the following symptoms:-
    • Constant dry cough
    • High temperature
    • A recent loss of smell or taste
    • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing

    Additionally people with at least 2 of the following symptoms –

    • Fever
    • Headache
    • Chills
    • Muscle soreness
    • Repeated shaking with chills

    There are hand sanitisers available throughout the spa, you will be asked to use sanitising gel prior to entering the spa. You and your therapist will also be asked to wash your hands before and after your treatment

  • The therapists will be given time added onto each treatment in order to fully clean and sanitise the treatment rooms in between appointments
  • The spa receptionist will be cleaning and sanitising the communal areas
  • Staff members will only bring essentials into work, we ask our clients do the same and only bring essential items into the spa
  • Treatments can only be booked over the phone or via email, we will not be allowing walk in appointments. If you have a query please contact the spa
  • An online consultation form needs to be completed prior to your appointment, this will be emailed to you at the time of your booking.
  • We ask that you arrive on your own to your appointment, unless a carer is required
  • Please arrive 5 minutes prior to your appointment time
  • Therapists will be wearing visors and appropriate PPE to undertake contact treatments on the body
  • Please enter the spa wearing a face covering
  • Please follow the one way system which is place in the centre and spa
  • ‘Sneeze screens’ are in place for manicures and on the spa reception desk
  • At the moment we will be only offering 25 minute or 55 minute treatments, two treatments can be booked back to back as long as the time doesn’t exceed 55 minutes.
  • Pre-payments will be taken at the time of booking
  • Towels and robes will not be provided for treatments, and please be advised our changing facilities will remain closed
  • Implements for use in treatments to be disinfected between clients and stored in UV cabinet
  • Where possible please give 48 hrs notice to cancel your appointment, if you need to cancel within 48 hours we will re-schedule your appointment
  • If you would like to purchase products please call or email the spa to place your order, payment will be taken and a convenient collection time arranged
  • Please be advised the Sauna and Steam Areas will remain closed until further notice or information is established regarding the risks in such facilities
